Knoxville has a number of attractions that are worth seeing. If you are new to the area, or if you have just moved here, you may want to visit some of these places. If you have lived in Knoxville, Tennessee for years and haven’t seen these things yet, then you owe it to yourself to check them out.
The Sunsphere Tower
The Sunsphere is a 266-foot tall tower that was built for the 1982 World’s Fair, which was held in Knoxville. It’s an observation deck at the top of this tower that offers 360-degree views of the city. The Sunsphere is an iconic symbol of Knoxville and can be seen from many parts of the city.
It is an iconic Knoxville symbol. It is hard to miss from any direction because it is so huge. It offers a great view of the city from its observation deck. It also houses some offices, including the headquarters for Scruffy City Hall.
The World’s Fair Park
This park was built for the 1982 World’s Fair and still has two buildings left over from the fair itself: The Knoxville Museum of Art and the Tennessee Amphitheater (which can be used as a concert venue). There are also three fountains in this park that must be seen to be believed.
Zoo Knoxville
This zoo features over 800 animals, ranging from alligators and elephants to gorillas and lions. They also have a petting zoo where kids can get up close and personal with goats and other farm animals.
Market Square
This is an open-air market with shops and restaurants. It’s a popular spot for locals to hang out and get together, similar to New York City’s Times Square or San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. Market Square hosts some events as well as live music on weekends.
